Vista runs all users as normal user and elevates explicitly per project. Users should be trained not to accept elevation unless they have just requested functionality that requires elevation. The shield is the cue to the user that elevation will be requested, so it’s an important part of the Vista security model. Figure 1: Display the User Access Elevation Warning
