VS Code Developers Help Out with COVID-19 Extensions

With the web providing more and more tools, trackers, guidance and many other resources related to the COVID-19 pandemic, some developers are trying to help out with extensions that have begun appearing in the Visual Studio Code Marketplace.

So far, the extensions number only three:

  • COVID-19 Tracker: "Track COVID-19 around the world in realtime." This was published on March 22 by Justin Woodward. It lets developers specify the list of countries to be displayed in the status bar and display global data in the status bar. It has 23 installations at the time of this writing.
  • COVID-19 Stats: "A simple VSCode extension based on TreeView-API and coronavirus-tracker (API)." The Tree View API allows extensions to show content in the sidebar in VS Code. The site for coronavirus-tracker (API), in German, provides a free icon.

    This extension was released on March 22 by "4gray." It lists worldwide and individual country statistics. It had been installed 65 times at press time.

  • COVID-19 Theme: "I hope you like it." This was released on March 23 by Hamad Al Marri, downloaded 18 times.

So far, no COVID-19 related extensions appear in the Visual Studio Marketplace.
