C++ Driver Joins CodeGear

CodeGear brings on C++ expert Alisdair Meredith.

High-profile C++ contributor Alisdair Meredith has joined Borland Software Corp.'s developer tools subsidiary CodeGear, where he's tasked with shepherding the company's C++ Builder rapid application development tools.

Meredith's resume includes work on the International Organization for Standardization's (ISO) C++ Version 2.0 standards efforts. He maintains the C++0x Evolution List, contributes to other C++ standards bodies and will represent CodeGear on the ANSI C++ Committee.

His new position at CodeGear coincides with the finalization of the ISO C++ Language Committee's C++0x first public draft review. The new standard is expected to be ratified in 2009.

Alisdair MeredithBefore he joined CodeGear, Meredith was the software architect and chassis project leader for the Renault Formula 1 racing team. During his tenure, the Renault Formula 1 team won two world championships.

Glooscap Software founder Bruce McGee, a longtime Delphi user, applauds CodeGear's move. "I'm glad that CodeGear understands that the Delphi and C++ communities have their own needs -- even if there is overlap -- and that they found someone so well qualified to advocate for C++ customers," McGee tells RDN via e-mail.

Meredith, who officially joined CodeGear in September, is based in Oxfordshire, England.
