Chart FX 7, FarPoint Spread for Windows Forms 4, and the Dotfuscator Product Line
New products this month.
Chart FX 7
Software FX Inc. has announced the latest version of Chart FX for Visual Studio 2005, the company’s data visualization Integrated Development Environment for Microsoft .NET. The tool has been updated to work in the Visual Studio 2008 environment and the name has been simplified to Chart FX 7.
Like its predecessor, Chart FX 7 includes a series of design-time tools for building data visualization and analysis front-ends for Windows Forms and Web Forms applications. Chart FX 7 provides the same API as Chart FX for VS 2005, ensuring compatibility with existing code, and also provides the same design-time advantages for VS 2008 users.
In addition, Software FX has announced that Chart FX Gauges, Extensions Pack and Grid FX (which you can use to create graphical and tabular data in enterprise Web apps) will fully support Microsoft VS 2008 by Q1 2008.

FarPoint Spread for Windows Forms 4
FarPoint Technologies Inc. has released version 4 of its spreadsheet component, FarPoint Spread for Windows Forms. This version adds new cell types, several UI enhancements, new import/export options including support for Excel 2007, and new and enhanced APIs to enable even more customization.

New cell types include Barcode with support for 10 barcode types and Fraction in the Number cell type to display values such as 1/100 or .01. More user interface en-hancements add a new floating formula bar with range selection support, outline grouping, new cell note customizations, and enhanced text rendering. New import/export options add support for Excel 2007, Office Open XML, and PDF. Also new: Developers can enable an export view-driven version of data to Excel and import/export a validation list to Excel (with the combo box cell type).
FarPoint Spread for Windows Forms works in all versions of the .NET Framework including Microsoft’s latest Visual Studio 2008 development environment. Product tours, introductory videos, and more detailed feature lists are available at the FarPoint Spread Web site.

DashO and the Dotfuscator Product Line
PreEmptive Solutions is shipping new releases of DashO, Dotfuscator Gold, Dotfuscator Professional, Dotfuscator Community Edition (CE), and Dotfuscator CE Enhanced. The company has also launched a Professional Services organization.
Some of the enhancements in these new releases include enhanced obfuscation and an improved UI in DashO Version 3.4; Dotfuscator Professional Version 4.2.5 now includes support for VS 2008 and .NET 3.5, as well as the ability to inject application analytic logic through the UI; Dotfuscator Gold Version 1.1 further automates and exposes additional Microsoft SLP Service licensing functionality; Dotfuscator CE now supports the Visual Studio enhancements included in this release; and Dotfuscator CE Enhanced now includes the ability to instrument .NET applications with application analytic technology.
PreEmptive has also announced the launch of their Professional Service offerings that include application security tune-up for organizations wanting to ensure that they’re automating best practices; beta software adoption and usage monitoring and analysis; and ISV software evaluation process management.
