Microsoft Opens Build 2014 Registration

Information expected on the next version of Windows, rumored to be called "Windows 9".

Registration for Build, Microsoft's developer-focused conference, is now live. Steve Guggenheimer, Microsoft's Corporate Vice President and Chief Evangelist, Developer & Platform Evangelism, made the announcement on the official Microsoft blog today.

The dates have been known since the conference was announced last month. "At this year's event we will share what is coming for Windows, Windows Phone, Windows Azure, Windows Server, Xbox, Visual Studio and more," Guggenheimer blogged. Undoubtedly, Microsoft will start providing details of Windows 9, the rumored "Threshold" release that will replace Windows 8.

One thing quite unlikely to be unveiled is a new version of Visual Studio, which has had two major updates in the last two years, with Visual Studio 2012 and Visual Studio 2013 being released consecutively.

Build will return to its traditional home in San Francisco's Moscone Center. Last year, Guggenheimer said that more than 6,000 developers attended the show. Those wishing to attend the 2014 show shouldn't waste time signing up; typically, the show sells out quickly. The news about dates and the location of the 2013 Build show was first announced at 1105 Media's Visual Studio Live! developer conference, last March.
