Anypoint Platform Goes Mobile

.NET developers can now use MuleSoft's Anypoint data connetivity middleware solutions to extend its services out to enterprise mobile apps.

MuleSoft, the makers of the Anypoint Platform, has released a new version of its suite aimed at enterprise mobile app developers. Anypoint Platform for Mobile extends its platform for businesses who want to "quickly design, build, manage and analyze APIs that connect mobile apps with Salesforce, ServiceNow, SAP, Siebel and many other popular enterprise platforms and services."

Anypoint defines its middleware integration solution as one that connects applications, data, and devices in the cloud and on-premises. The suite has built-in .NET support, which means it's capable of connecting across apps written in Java, .NET and other non-.NET languages. The mobile capabilities extends these features across apps built for mobile devices.

The secret sauce is the native support for the RESTful API Modeling Language, which allows developers to hook directly into REST-based APIs. In turn, this allows apps to support SharePoint, Dynamics and the Azure Service Bus via APIs. Also included is a DataSense-enabled .NET Connector, for mapping between .NET objects and RAML APIs.

The new mobile solution is just a portion of MuleSoft's announcement. The company also released a major upgrade of the Anypoint Platform that features more than a dozen new templates for connecting mobile apps to more common enterprise data sources, such as Salesforce, SAP and others; an Anypoint Exchange library of templates and connectors; API usage reporting tool; and an API usage dashboard that can be used to track key metrics on usage by users, regions, and performance within SLA guidelines, among other features.
