Application Insights Update Allows for Sharing Customized Monitors
Still in pre-release, updates are coming out fast for Application Insights SDK for Web Apps, including new ways to share customized charts.
An incremental update for Application Insights SDK for Web Apps, Microsoft's cloud-based performance and usage monitor, was released last week that features new ways to share some of the gleaned information it gathers. It's still in pre-release (right now, the current build is 0.14) and, as such, that means you can work with the new features but don't put total trust in it within a production environment.
Nonetheless, the new version allows for creating and sharing collections of charts, including the ability to save them as favorites within the Metric Explorer, which is the UI used for creating and customizing charted data.
Application Insights also has an alerting feature that can be customized to ping by e-mail as thresholds are reached or breached. New features for drilling down into the monitors are also now available, wherein one can view built-in monitors and custom ones.
Microsoft Senior Program Manager Soubhagya Dash blogged some specific examples using built-in and customized monitors.
Application Insights SDK for Java was released in early March.
Application Insights SDK for Web Apps 0.14 pre-release is available from NuGet here.
