Tugging at the Heartstrings at Microsoft Build
Microsoft's Day 1 Keynote was one of information overload, with a slew of product announcements. But there was one bit of emotional overload that I couldn't let go. Also: an interview with Paul Pardi and Selina Winter of the Microsoft Learning Group in this week's .NET Insight Podcast.

Wow, that was a lot to take in not just from an informational standpoint, but an emotional one as well. And yes, I'm talking about that first-day keynote speech from Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. Some of the more interesting proof-of-concept applications being built using Microsoft developer tools includes one that is truly personal.
If you don't watch anything else in the keynote, which you can catch here, at least fast forward to the 52-minute mark, which is the segment with Microsoft Researcher Haiyan Zhang. Her work enabled Emma, a young woman afflicted with Parkinson's disease, to regain enough rudimentary control of her hand movements to capably draw or write or use a touch-enabled device. No joke, I was brought to tears, even after viewing this segment yet again to write this short piece.
To fulfill your needs for information overload, there's also the Microsoft Build Session Catalog, which points you to various videos available via the Channel 9 site. Or just go to the Channel 9 site directly and start looking around there; select sessions (and there are quite a few just from Build 2017) will be available throughout the day live and also on demand later.
Also, in this week's .NET Insight Podcast, an interview with Paul Pardi and Selina Winter of the Microsoft Learning Group, who give us an update on the changes to the MCSD program. Also: We want your feedback and also want your suggestions for how to improve this show and who we should interview next!
