LEADTOOLS Imaging Kits Get New .NET Standard, Azure Cloud Libraries
Imaging dev tools specialist LEAD Technologies announced the release of LEADTOOLS Version 20 with new libraries leveraging .NET Standard, Microsoft's effort to unify .NET API usage across different platforms and projects, such as .NET Framework, .NET Core and Visual Studio Tools for Xamarin.
The company provides toolkits designed to help programmers integrate raster, document, medical, multimedia and vector imaging into various kinds of applications for platforms including desktop, server and mobile (tablet and phone).
Those tools now get a boost with the support for .NET Standard, version 2.0 of which was finalized last August, specifying a set of APIs that all conformant .NET implementations must provide for consistent API usage regardless of specific coding targets.
With LEADTOOLS Version 20, those targets include: .NET Framework (WPF, Windows Forms, ASP.NET); .NET Core (UWP, ASP.NET Core); and Xamarin/Mono (iOS, macOS, Android, UWP) applications, the company said, along with Microsoft Azure services.
Speaking about the Azure libraries, the company said, "Developers can easily add OCR, Barcode, Passport, Driver's License, and Check recognition, as well as convert over 150 imaging and document file formats to their cloud-based services."
The company provided more information on the new offering in two blog posts published yesterday and today. "Overall, the toolkit is faster and more efficient, and major areas of focus in this release were the Recognition Engines, Document Viewer, Document Formats, Medical Web Viewer, and Hanging Protocols," today's post said.
