.NET Framework Not Forgotten: Repair Tool Updated
Even though Microsoft's development focus has shifted to the open-source, cross-platform .NET Core initiative -- with the aging, traditional, Windows-only .NET Framework relegated primarily to fixes and maintenance such as quality and reliability improvements -- the latter is still getting some other attention, as exemplified in a repair tool update.
The .NET Framework Repair tool (Note: clicking on link may initiate download) is useful for framework installation failures when an issue can't be fixed in the setup process, helping to detect and fix common causes of such failures.
Specifically: "The Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool detects frequently occurring issues that affect Microsoft .NET Framework setup or updates. The tool tries to resolve those issues by applying known fixes or by repairing corrupted installations of the supported .NET Framework versions. The tool has an easy-to-use, wizard-based user interface (UI). It also supports command line usage together with more advanced options."
In announcing the update, Microsoft's Namrata Karnam said, "This version (v1.4) of the repair tool supports all versions of .NET Framework from 3.5 SP1 to 4.8. The latest update adds support for .NET Framework 4.6.2, 4.7, 4.7.1, 4.7.2 and 4.8."

Meanwhile, those .NET Framework updates are coming at a regular pace, with the latest coming about three weeks ago: ".NET Framework October 2019 Cumulative Updates Windows 10 version 1903 and Windows 10 version 1909."
