Norfolk, Va.-based Centric CRM has changed its name to Concursive Corporation to reflect the evolution of the company's product line to beyond customer relationship management (CRM) functionality.
Nothing has prevented ASP.NET developers from using a model view controller (MVC) architecture. But it's likely to get a lot easier with Microsoft's ASP.NET 3.5 Extensions, which will include the highly anticipated MVC option. The first preview of the technology was released today.

Borland plans to integrate business intelligence (BI) capabilities into its Open Application Lifecycle Management (Open ALM) solutions in the coming year.
Borland commissioned a study on the effectiveness of performance measurements in application development projects. The study surveyed 20 application development and project management organizations with revenues ranging from $1 billion to $5 billion.
Microsoft released Entity Framework Beta 3 on Dec. 6 and officially announced the third-party database vendors and ADO.NET 2.0 data providers that have agreed to support the framework.

Sun Microsystems today announced the availability of the first component of its new virtualization platform, and laid out a roadmap for opening the platform's source code. The Santa Clara, Calif.-based systems company bills its xVM Ops Center virtualization management tool as a "highly scalable datacenter automation tool for complete management of heterogeneous global IT environments."

The Free Software Foundation (FSF) recently published GNU Affero General Public License version 3 (AGPLv3), a derivative of GPL version 3. Unlike the standard GPL, Affero has an additional clause that allows users who interact with AGPLv3-licensed software over a network to receive the source code for that program.
HP Software has further developed its business technology optimization</a> (BTO) solutions. The company's bundle of BTO solutions just got easier to use with a new product integration milestone. The announcement came from the HP Software Universe users' conference in Barcelona, Spain.
In a major shift by a large wireless network provider, Verizon Wireless will open its network next year to applications and devices not provided by the carrier.

It just got a little easier for developers using Microsoft's .NET Framework technology and SharePoint to integrate their .NET applications with IBM's Java-based portal technology. In a global reseller deal, IBM agreed to sell Mainsoft Corp.'s .NET Extensions solution with the IBM WebSphere Portal solution.
Microsoft recently tapped Reed Sturtevant, a Lotus, Radnet and Idealab vet, to spearhead concept development in its spiffy new Cambridge, Mass. facility.
