He was interviewed by Greg Doench, an executive editor with Pearson Technology Group, which includes book publishers such as Addison-Wesley Professional, Prentice Hall Professional, Que, Sams and Peachpit Press.
Adobe Systems is planning to release the source code for the remoting and messaging technologies within its LiveCycle Data Services suite as a separately branded product called BlazeDS. A beta of the product is available now on the Adobe Labs developer portal.

Open source community projects and commercial software aren't necessarily adversaries. Some interactions have resulted in a positive outcome for all. One such instance is the KDE project's collaboration with Oslo, Norway-based Trolltech. Since 1996, Trolltech's QT toolkit has been used in the KDE Desktop Environment. The collaboration resulted in user-friendly desktops for Unix and Unix-like operating systems (such as Linux).

The Free Software Foundation (FSF) recently published GNU Affero General Public License version 3 (AGPLv3), a derivative of GPL version 3. Unlike the standard GPL, Affero has an additional clause that allows users who interact with AGPLv3-licensed software over a network to receive the source code for that program.
San Francisco-based Coverity Inc. has expanded its static source-code analysis scanning solution. The solution now supports Java-based open source software (OSS) projects. Developers can check their OSS Java applications for free using Coverity's hosted solution. The solution scans applications and points out security and quality problems in the code without actually running the tested application.
There's already a thriving Eclipse ecosystem, so do we really need a service aimed at Eclipse end users? You'd better believe it, said Maher Masri, president and cofounder of Genuitec.

Open source solution vendor Red Hat is collaborating with Sun Microsystems with the aim of creating a "fully compatible, open source Java Development Kit (JDK) for Red Hat Enterprise Linux," according to an announcement issued by Red Hat.
