HP is offering its Business Technology Optimization solutions as both an on-premises installed solution and as a hosted solution delivered via software-as-a-service (SaaS). The SaaS option is not well known, perhaps, but it's a growing part of HP's general software strategy.
Businesses running data-intensive Web applications need Web pages that can update incrementally. The technology to do so has been accelerated since 2005, with the advent of open standards such as AJAX, which is the acronym for Asynchronous JavaScript (JS) and eXtensible Markup Language (XML).
In a surprise move, Microsoft said today it is releasing the reference source code for the .NET Framework libraries, a key step toward opening up the proprietary development platform.
