VS Tools for Cordova Update 3 Aims for Stability
Along with a handful of features, including an ADAL plug-in, VS Tools for Cordova Update 3 aims for stability with a number of fixes that includes one for an error developers were getting after installing ASP.NET 5 Beta 7.
Soon after the release of the Tools for Apache Cordova Version 1.0.0 (known more commonly by the delicious-sounding TACO CLI moniker), the Visual Studio Team released an update to another Cordova-related tool, Visual Studio Tools for Apache Cordova Update 3. The update adds a number of new features, inlcuding an Azure AD Library plug-in, mainly a stability release that rolls up a little over a dozen fixes, but
"Enterprise customers will benefit from a new ADAL plugin that provides straight-forward authentication for your Apache Cordova apps using Windows Server Active Directory and Windows Azure Active Directory," said Kraig Brockschmidt, a senior developer with the VS Team, in a blog.
The stability update also addresses more than a dozen fairly specific and vexing issues that were reported on the stackoverflow.com site, three of which the team highlights in the blog.
One fix had to do with an error when opening a project soon after installing ASP.NET 5 Beta 7. The blocking issue was first reported in a post at stackoverflow.com by Pablo Martinez, details of which you can see here.
Another member, who goes by the handle "ando," who encountered a bug when trying to deploy a project on a Windows 8 phone. The error, since fixed with this release, occurred when he tried to deploy to a Windows 8 build target.
And member SpaMobile encountered a "could not reserve enough space for object heap" error on a deployment to an Android platform. SpaMobile had figured out a workaround that can be seen at this link, but the team has since fixed the issue in this release.
