Telerik Kendo UI Supports AngularJS 2.0, Web Components

The newest release also sports new spreadsheet widget that allows Excel-style data management and organization, as well as a handful of new project templates.

Progress released a new version of the Telerik Kendo UI, the HTML5 and JavaScript user interface framework. New in this version is support for AngularJS 2.0 and the Web Components standard, as well as a new spreadsheet widget and new template additions to speed Web app development.

The addition of AngularJS 2.0 and Web Components support is timely, as both frameworks are gaining favor with Web app developers. AngularJS is an open source Web app framework that's used a number of large companies, including NBC, Sprint, YouTube.com, as well as some smaller but Web-app intensive sites such as OpenTable and Lynda.com. Web Components is being developed as a set of standards for building reusable components for Web apps. Both are now integrated as if natively available from Kendo UI while building projects.

Kendo UI also comes with a new spreadsheet widget that, when added to projects, allows Excel-style data management and organization. It integrates directly with the Telerik ASP.NET MVC Document Processing Library to allow for reliable import and export of server-sde data.

Kendo UI also sports a new Nova Web site design template that it has been testing out earlier this year with its mobile widgets, but is now being extended to many Web and DataViz widgets. And this release also sports a number of prebuilt project templates and includes "scaffolding capabilities for Kendo UI Grid, Chart and Scheduler widgets within Visual Studio, inside of ASP.NET MVC projects," according to a blog post from Kendo UI Product Manager Stefan Rahnev, detailing the release of an in-development version.
